He’s not even in office, but President-elect Obama has already flip-flopped on a key campaign pledge.
Back in April, he promised Indiana’s basketball-barmy voters he would rip out Dick Nixon’s White House bowling alley and replace it with a basketball court. He carried the state in the election, but crowds of keglers cried “foul.” Now, a month before his inauguration, Mr. Obama has flip-flopped on this vital national issue.
Hoops will have a White House home, but bowling will remain at the residence. The Bowling-Industrial Complex spared no effort in striking this compromise, and pinned down the President-elect by offering the White House a free new state-of-the-art bowling alley.
But was this 180-degree policy reversal due to the spirit of compromise, or was it inspired by … something else?
Pastor Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church has a Bowling League Outreach Ministry.
Coincidence?
